ABOUT

Our philosophy

There is no wine without emotion. Good wine is like true love; in the first taste our soul senses it. Our wines are born in the noble vineyards of Tokaj – Hegyalja where the earth and the sky meet, where the sun’s rays and the morning dew touch our vines at once, here our vineyards ripen quietly. This is our wonderful Tokaj wine region.

Our vineyard locations

St. Thomas, Mád

Mineralic, fresh, dense flavors, characterize volcanic wine. One of the most well known volcanic vineyards in the Tokaj region is St. Thomas. We Hungarians love our locally produced wines and recognize that the Tokaj wine region produces some of the most unique wines in the world. Relative water scarcity and the intensive minerality of the soil act together to affect the highly concentrated flavor of the grapes, which is also reflected in the wine.

The St. Thomas vineyard is recognized undoubtedly as being one of the most sacred vineyards in the Tokaj Wine Region. It is the birthplace of our best wines that originate from the top of this prestigous, first-class vineyard. Our furmints reflect the characteristics of this vineyard – its soul, its acidity and the full harmony of flavors.

Szerelmi, Tokaj

One of Tokaj’s most famous loess vineyards is the Szerelmi vineyard that rises above the town of Tokaj. Due to the thickness of the dune wall – 10 to 30 meters – the vines here produce grapes that are among the most beautiful and fruity. The wines from here are fragrant, elegant and easy drinking. Furmint fans and those new to furmint are sure to embrace this wine as one of their favorites!

According to an anecdote…

Pope Pius IV tasted a glass of wine from Tállya at the time of the Trentine Synod and made this statement:
„Summum Pontificem talia vina decent!” –
„This kind of wine is worthy to be on His Holiness’ table!”
